Saturday
12noon – 4pm – Call of Cthulhu: None More Black (GM: Robert Southern, up to 5 players, 14+ TBC)
It’s 1920s Boston, and Harvard has been rocked by a string of student deaths under mysterious circumstances. With the police having decided to rule these deaths as drug misuse and the university’s reputation hanging from a knife edge, the Dean has turned to Lorenzo’s Private Investigative Agency to get to the bottom of these harrowing events. Lorenzo’s employees are a rag tag bunch from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing is for sure, they get the job done. No crime is too small, too challenging or too “weird” for them to solve.
12.30pm – 3pm – Robin Hood: Trouble at the Crossroads (GM: Mike McCahon, 4-6 players, 12+)
Robin and his merry men need to help out a minstrel in trouble for singing ballads about their exploits, but uncover a far bigger problem along the way. Grab your quarterstaff and longbow and ride to the rescue!
1pm-3.30pm – HeroQuest (GM: Erik O Pilfold, 2-6 players, 12+)
“For many years the land has been at peace. The darkness that once threatened to engulf it is forgotten, but the darkness was not destroyed, merely banished. And now it gathers strength once more, and an ancient evil stirs in the depths of the earth. The land has need of heroes, are you one of them?”
Heroquest is an old school dungeon crawl adventure board game. Explore ancient dungeons in search of treasure, traps and monsters to fight. Simple rules and minimal roleplay, fun for all as the dungeon literally takes shape before you.
1.30pm – 4pm – Star Wars: Edge of the Empire (GM: Kiera Wood, 5 players, 12+)
The Galactic Empire rules from Coruscant, the Jedi order fell over a decade ago, and now rebellion groups are starting to grow in strength and reach. However, you just have to make some credits to get enough fuel to keep flying and fund your debts, at least enough to stop anyone sending bounty hunters after you. Edge of Empire is part of the Star Wars RPG where you are surviving in the rough, crime rich, outer rim. Be prepared to play a character that’s got skeletons in the closet, a blaster on the hip, a skewed sense of right and wrong, and a name like Farnak Slo-plop.
2pm – 4.30pm – Icarus (GM: Kiri Thorn, 2-4 players, 16+)
At the height of Icarus’s power the city has decided to erect a massive monument to its glory. Together we will build this civilisation – is it a floating island building a monument to its army of airships and its conquest of the skies? Perhaps a mountain city, built on stilts and in caves above the highest clouds building a monument to its purity of thought. Or maybe a city in the depths of the ocean, connected domes and bioluminescent people building a monument to the gene therapies that allow them to live there. Building a great monument isn’t so easy though, and as it rises the cracks in the city start to grow. How big can the monument get before the civilisation collapses under its weight? Please be aware that this game is run by a queer trans-nonbinary GM. Queer themes and characters very much welcome. The X card will be in use in case the game does veer into darker territory.
2.30pm – 5pm – Dungeons and Dragons 5e: Saving Amca (GM: Simon Filler, 6 players, 10+)
The Kingdom of Amca has fallen into civil war! After the once prosperous kingdom fell, after being taken over by the evil and false king Tonump, the people of Amca have risen up! The struggle has been long but finally, you, the resistance, are ready to strike directly at the evil King and restore peace to Amca!
This is a level 6 one-shot. You can bring your own character or use a premade one provided.
Sunday
11am – 1.30pm – Dungeons and Dragons 5e: The Maison of Mystery (GM: Simon Filler, up to 6 players, 12+)
The town of High Hill was a pleasant, sleepy town full of people who mostly minded their own business. The main town lays in the shadow of Omen Hill, whereupon once stood a modest yet magnificent castle. Hundreds of years before, the castle was destroyed in a dreadful storm, with most of it’s materials then used in the construction of the town.
The hill has been left alone mostly; rumours of bad luck and curses pervade the area and most sensible folk avoid it. Then, just two weeks prior, a maison appeared atop the hill! None who have gone to investigate have yet returned and while the town awaits soldiers from the kingdom, they’re happy to let you lot see what’s there first. Good luck adventurers!
This is a level 5 one-shot. You can bring your own character or use a premade one provided.
11.30am – 2pm – You Awaken in a Strange Place (GM: Kiri Thorn, 3 players, 16+)
Follow the GM’s guidance to determine the setting, the characters, and all the details of world building on the fly! Get right into the good stuff of playing fun characters with your fun new friends! Don’t be afraid to be silly and stupid; this is a silly and stupid game. The session is considered a success if everyone had fun and wants to play again. Please be aware that this game is run by a queer trans-nonbinary GM. Queer themes and characters very much welcome. The X card will be in use in case the game does veer into darker territory.
12noon – 2.30pm – The Scramble in Africa (GM: Mike McCahon, 4 players, 12+)
1889. The Royal Martian Society has offered a prize for the best new vehicle design for travel on the plains of Mars, and has elected to test them by organising a rally from Cairo to Khartoum, simulating the Martian surface by crossing some of the harshest and most varied terrain available. As the the crew of the Carstairs Conveyance, a revolutionary new form of transportation, you’ll be competing against cutting-edge designs from across the world in a 1300-mile race that will pit you against some of the harshest terrain on earth, not to mention rival inventors, hostile natives and the political machinations of the great powers. Grab your pith helmet and keep your service revolver handy!
12.30pm – 3.30pm – Mothership: The Haunting of Ypsilon 14 (GM: James Bennison, 4-6 players, 14+)
You are the crew of The Tempest, a simple cargo delivery ship, sent to the mining asteroid Ypsilon 14 for the last pick up of your current run. A simple job that you have done many times before. But this time your main contact has gone missing, people are acting strangely, and you have the horrible feeling that you are being watched. Mothership is a sci-fi horror game which is very easy to pick up and play but not very easy to survive. If you enjoy films like Alien or Event Horizon then you will almost certainly love Mothership.
